Project Description:

Work with the Office of the General Counsel’s experienced legal team comprised of attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries, administrative staff, and legal claims teams on complex legal issues. Work with cross functionality teams within the corporate legal department in the litigation, environmental, regulatory, real estate, and employment law practice groups to gain a comprehensive view and understanding of several facets of law doing tasks that support the legal departments cases by providing entry level paralegal support which includes: conduct legal research, prepare drafts of legal documents, gather and compile data from legal references and resources, assist in preparation and redaction of legal documents, manage legal holds, and in utilizing document management systems, programs, and databases. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence, people skills, time management skills, and gain knowledge of substantive law and legal procedure. This position has the opportunity for potential full-time employment post internship and continued mentoring.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited community college or university paralegal program pursuing a degree in: paralegal certification, (Associate of Applied Science) A.A.S. or (Associate of General Studies) A.G.S., with emphasis in paralegal studies. Recent graduates are not eligible.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and West Law familiarity.

  • Completed the following classes or currently enrolled in: Legal Research, Civil Litigation, Evidence, and Legal Writing course curriculums.

  • Strong attention to detail. Persons in this position will be required to pass a drug, alcohol, and/or criminal background check.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA preferred.

Non-BargainingThe anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.00 per hourThis position may also be eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays, Personal holidays
