Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant processing, facility, and support equipment.

WAGE: Pay Range $26.94 - $34.07. Salary based on experience/qualifications.

SHIFT: 1st Shift, Tuesday - Saturday, 5am - 1:30pm

  • When requesting parts, communicates to parts planner the exact part that is needed, what it is for and give any other context that would be helpful in assuring the correct parts are ordered

Integration of Competencies:

  • Must have a minimum of four years of prior maintenance experience in an industrial environment, proper tool usage and safety including standard shop tools as well as milling and machining tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, packaging equipment and building systems
  • Manages completion of repairs per manufacturer’s specifications
  • Identifies performance trends or issues and recommends a course of action
  • Resolves equipment malfunctions by performing breakdown analysis, identifying the root cause and taking corrective action
  • Design and fabricate changes to equipment to enhance process performance including welding stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum. TIG and MIG process.
  • Effective time management around ongoing project lists with timely deliveries including prioritization and regular status updates to maintenance and production supervisors
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations on projects
  • Helps with development of procedures for preventative maintenance of process systems and equipment including analyzing and modifying manufacture recommended PMs
  • Once work is completed, works with operations to make sure the equipment is working properly. Staying late when needed to assure the issue is resolved
  • Able to mentor and train mech 1/new hires

Required Qualifications & Experiences

  • 18 years or older.
  • 6+ months prior industrial maintenance experience, knowledge and/or education.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude. Some experience with mechanical systems, utilizing product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.

Preferred Qualifications & Experiences

  • 3+ years of 3-phase power experience (480/277 and 208/120 VAC systems).
  • 1+ year of VFD, PLC, motor controls trouble shooting with basic knowledge of Allen Bradley systems.
  • 1+ years’ experience with basic electrical systems, compressors, welding, plumbing, conveyers, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Forklift experience preferred or willing to be trained for certification.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for self and others while performing assigned tasks.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of people and departments.
  • Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule.
  • Self-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision.
  • Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators.
  • Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day.
  • Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks.
  • Follows all procedures, GMPS, Safety, Quality, and Sanitation plans.
  • Ability to identify and report all potentially non-confirming product and equipment to Supervisor and the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.
  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
  • Shift schedules that include days, nights, and weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime.
