OVERVIEW


As the Sr. Sourcing Manager, Transportation your role sits within the Indirect team. You are directly responsible for all aspects of the strategic sourcing process for specific categories within North America and global strategy. You partner with the North American stakeholder team for accountable categories. You ensure category compliance and deliver according to performance metrics for your categories including fulfillment of Holistic Margin Management and total value.

  • Sourcing Category Management expertise with proven track record of developing metric-based multi-year category strategies and continuous execution with Value delivery across balanced scorecard.
  • Understanding of Logistics category transportation, ocean freight, 3PL and 4PL operating models.
  • Strong category analytics, should cost modeling and data-driven decision making.
  • Advanced leadership and collaboration skills with ability to build effective business relationships and influence peers and senior level stakeholders.
  • Expert project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity and drive for the results.

What You’ll Do

You will serve as an in-house category Expert, responsible for development of holistic and actionable sourcing category strategy aiming to maximize Value creation within One Global Sourcing (OGS) group and GMI Accelerate Strategy. You will lead and develop effective sourcing team responsible for execution and Value delivery across scorecard. Specifically, you’ll:

  • Support Category Director in defining What Good Looks Like for the category.
  • Develop comprehensive category strategies based on business and platform priorities.
  • Apply sourcing best practices to drive E2E Source to Manage – from strategy to stakeholder Value recognition.
  • Build continuous value pipeline and drive relentless execution against Total Value/Productivity, Service, Quality, Force for Good (incl. GHG) and Innovation
  • Create a data driven environment to support the decision making, enhances category analytics.
  • Continuously collect market intelligence and trends as it relates to the category, industry best practices and propose innovative solutions.
  • Develop and implement SRM program focused on partnering with executive and strategic suppliers to enhance relationships and create Value-add.
  • Closely partner with COE to conduct market intelligence research to identify relevant category benchmarks, should cost modeling and implementation of leading practices.
  • Enable and collaborate Globally to drive thoughtful opportunity creation
  • Provides guidance as needed to the buyers on category strategies and execution, serve as the point of escalation.
  • Ensure robust contract and spend compliance, adherence to corporate policies.
  • Learn and leverage continuous improvement tools and processes such as but not limited to BPM, SCM, Annual Planning, Inflation Guidance, Total Value tracking and reporting.
  • Build and manage high-performing team; foster the culture of inclusivity and belonging.

  • Manage direct reports in the platform including career development, performance, global category team participation, and escalations as needed for those categories
  • Builds organization capability by inspiring, leading, coaching, developing, and rewarding their team
  • Represent the platform to key leadership stakeholders including joint business planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or related field
  • 8+ years’ experience Sourcing related experience, including experience negotiating and working with contracts and vendors
  • Experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • Strong strategy development and execution
  • Strong executive communication and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Expertise in contract development, complex negotiations, risk management, market analysis, economic analysis and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and during times of significant change
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and motivate others
  • Learns quickly and can apply skills to new projects or situations
  • Demonstrates curiosity and passion for learning and continuous improvement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree and 7-10 years relevant experience, MBA or Masters in Supply Chain is preferred.
  • Sourcing and Partnership Development experience in the CPG industry
  • Previous experience within this category
  • Experience working globally in multi-cultural environment
  • Experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • Experience influencing others in a global, dynamic organization
  • People management experience
  • Project Management Experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications within the United States will be considered.
  • Relocation support will be offered to applicants within the United States.
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $141200.00 - $212000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifictions, etc. As such, pay for the succesful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
