Federal Reserve Bank of St. LouisThe Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is hiring a Research Officer to be part of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis’s Research Information Services team.This role provides strategic leadership by shaping and executing the vision for the Research Information Service (RIS) economic content platforms, such as FRED, FRASER, and Federal Reserve Education, to enhance usage, audience engagement, and global recognition. This position involves building strategic partnerships, overseeing technology strategies including cloud migration and security, and leading matrixed teams to drive measurable outcomes. In this position, you will report to the Director of Research Information Services. The staff reporting to you include data engineers who make FRED internationally-renowned and product owners and product managers who manage the technical projects for FRED, FRASER, Fed History, and Federal Reserve Education.
Responsibilities:
- Shape and execute the strategic vision for all RIS web applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversee the development and implementation of web strategies to disseminate economic content, including educational materials, historical documents, and time series data, with a focus on accessibility and audience engagement.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with organizations such as the Census Bureau, Board of Governors, and World Bank. Deliver cost-recovery projects that enhance platforms like FRED that mutually benefit the Bank, the external partner, and end user.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for applications, including cloud migration, technical architecture, and web application enhancements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with IT leadership on key technical decisions while maintaining responsibility for the applications’ security posture and operational integrity.
- Directly lead two teams (10 members) and provide matrixed oversight for the work of 15-20 IT professionals, ensuring alignment, engagement, and retention. Drive measurable outcomes such as increased website sessions, faster feature delivery, and reduced technical debt while fostering a culture of innovation and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a major in economics or other data intensive field, computer science or related field or commensurate experience
- 7 years of related work experience
- Outstanding skills in communicating; ability to present with clarity, confidence, and conviction
- Experience acquiring and delivering economic content at scale
- Experience in taking entrepreneurial approaches to expand and improve the products
- Experience with agile, waterfall, or other project management paradigm
