Federal Reserve Bank of St. LouisThe Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking an associate economist. The Division enjoys a strong international reputation and offers an outstanding research environment along with competitive salary and benefits.

Associate economists are expected to contribute to the Bank's research mission through activities that support the Economic Expertise goal, to collaborate with other Division economists to develop and implement real-time data dashboards for use in analyzing economic and financial data, and to produce publishable research.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent macroeconomic research and analysis from initial conception to completion and publication.
  • Publish research in the Bank’s economic journal, the Review, and in academic journals.
  • Contribute to the strength of the department through collaboration with Bank economists, external scholars, and Bank leadership.
  • Develop and productionize FRED economic data dashboards, including creating a data pipeline and automating data extraction, transformation, and presentation.
  • Research and implement strategies for incorporating new economic data and analytical techniques into the current Division frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Economics, including PhD completion by Summer 2025.
  • Expertise with large and complex public and proprietary datasets like FRED, McDash, and CoreLogic.
  • Strong skills in statistical software packages or programming languages as R, Python, or similar languages.
  • Potential for outstanding scholarly achievement.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex ideas.

Salary: $100,000 - $114,000
