You will analyze and edit complex financial data, and resolve data anomalies collected from financial institutions, holding companies, and non-bank entities in the Sixth District for use in formulating monetary policy and conducting bank supervision and regulation activities. Provide reporting guidance to depository institutions concerning reporting requirements and interpretation of reported data. You will serve on ad hoc groups to review and make recommendations on System/District policies related to financial or regulatory reporting. You will report to the Financial Statistics Manager.

This is a multi-level job posting which includes the Financial Statistics Analyst (job description below) and Senior Financial Statistics Analyst. Successful candidates will be placed in the job that best reflects experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Through the use of automated systems, collect, edit and analyze financial data reported by bank holding companies, depository institutions, and non-bank entities. Identify data anomalies and interact with reporters to resolve edit failures, data anomalies, or data discrepancies. Write and execute queries and sort programs for use in panel determination, data analysis and research.

  • Monitor deadlines through multiple priority management and provide manager with periodic status reports and interact with team members, other teams within the department or staff in other areas of the Bank to ensure completeness of data and resolution of discrepancies.

  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in banking and financial industry by staying abreast of FASB pronouncements, GAAP (ASC), reading technical memoranda, user guides, press releases, and other professional literature. Attend related seminars, classes, and conferences sponsored by the Department, System or third-party vendors.

  • Communicate well with others and conduct formal and informal presentations to department staff and financial institution reporters on reporting requirements; research materials for training sessions/seminars conducted by others. Participate in special projects related to data analysis, current trends affecting financial institutions or changes in the structure of financial organizations.

  • Review proposed changes to technical memoranda and comments on data content, report instructions, and procedures for processing series. Could be required to oversee and assist in testing of Edit Resolution/Reporting Central changes, and prepares summary of testing activities for Manager’s review.

  • Demonstrate independent, critical thinking and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, make good decisions based on available information, gather and analyze information, solve problems, and plan routine workflow and special projects. Seek stretch assignments and opportunities to implement technology-supported solutions. Recommend enhancements to automated systems or processing procedures to improve data quality or processing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or 4 years equivalent experience
