What we do:
The Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York consists of multiple teams that fulfill a range of responsibilities, from planning and executing open market operations, monitoring, and analyzing financial market developments, to managing foreign customer accounts.
Through its analytical and operational areas, the Markets Group:
Manages the size and composition of the Federal Reserve System's balance sheet consistent with the directives and the authorization of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)
Monitors and analyzes financial market developments for key stakeholders and policymakers within the Federal Reserve System
Monitors and analyzes developments related to financial stability
Supports debt issuance and debt management on behalf of the U.S. Treasury
Provides foreign exchange services to the U.S. Treasury
Provides account services to foreign central banks, international agencies, and U.S. government agencies.
The Markets Group hosts an entry-level rotational analyst program designed to offer a hands-on learning experience through the completion of three, one-year long rotations. On each rotation, rotational analysts (RAs) will gain exposure to the core operational and analytical activities of the directorate, while gaining a deeper understanding of the directorate’s work and how it contributes to the larger goals of the Markets Group.
As an RA, you may complete a rotation on any of the following directorates: Cross-Market Monitoring and Analysis, International Markets, Money Markets, Treasury Markets, or Treasury Debt Financing. You will report directly to the Rotational Analyst Program Lead and the Associate Director on your rotation and receive mentorship from an Associate on your team. The Markets RA Program is a maximum of three years in length, but RAs that demonstrate strong performance will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position in the Markets Group/Bank following the completion of two years in the program.
Your role as a Rotational Analyst:
Assist in the execution of the Group’s funds, securities, trading and settlement activities, including the preparation and maintenance of preliminary internal reports, data entry of operations results, discrepancy follow-up and resolution, and testing the implementation of new products
Source, manipulate, and visually represent data (i.e. charts, dashboards, graphs) and prepare other supporting documentation to be used in the research and market analysis conducted by the Group
Perform preliminary research relating to market monitoring or market issues
Develop, maintain, and refine efficient procedures for the data preparation cycles
What we are looking for:
Essential Criteria
Demonstrated data analysis and data management experience, including proficiency in Excel
Experience creating data visualizations (e.g. charts, dashboards) in Excel and/or Tableau
Ability to work productively in a high-performance team atmosphere and as an independent contributor
Academic exposure, experience, or interest in financial markets, US monetary policy, and monetary policy implementation
Self-direction with the ability to manage multiple projects, take initiative and solve problems
Desirable Criteria
Experience with SQL and/or Python is a plus
Evidence of a desire to continually learn and improve skillsets
Salary: 72500 / year
