The Lead Security Engineer role works within the Internal Security Operations team and is responsible for the implementation and operation of security technology used in the protection of Arctic Wolf. This role will work closely with other Cloud Security and Security Architecture teams to deploy and operationalize critical technical security capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical input into the selection of security technologies, in line with strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills required to clearly articulate and explain proposed solutions to senior stakeholders.
  • Implement and configure off-the-shelf security technologies in the Arctic Wolf internal environment.
  • Create technical approaches to implementing security control technologies.
  • Continually strive for improved integration between technologies to enhance capabilities from existing investments.
  • Build. Run. Retire. Repeat.
  • Work closely with vendors for outsourced solutions. Review vendor solutions and recommendations.
  • Provide on-call after hours support for security incident escalations as needed.
  • Contribute to a world-class security program that supports Arctic Wolf’s tremendous growth.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in security and infrastructure engineering including assessing and escalating to vendors for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Ability to work and collaborate well across multiple stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of software development, scripting, and API integration.
  • Strong experience in deploying security technologies such as SIEM, SOAR, content filters, Threat Intelligence Platform, EDR, Threat Detection / MITRE ATT&CK mapping, etc.
  • Good familiarity with cloud infrastructures, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) considered a strong plus. We’re a cloud-first company.
  • Knowledge of industry adopted frameworks and methodologies (MITRE ATT&CK, CIS, NIST, ISO 27002:2013, PCI-DSS, etc.)
  • Strong in-depth technical knowledge of security engineering, computer and network security, authentication, security protocols, and applied cryptography.
  • Can write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  • Uses rigorous logic and methods to identify potential problems. Probes all fruitful sources for answers; tries to identify hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and does not stop at the first answers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong familiarity with cloud infrastructures and managing Security Information Event Management solutions with certification in Amazon Web Services (AWS) considered a strong plus.
  • Strong experience with setup and administration of Linux systems within AWS cloud environment.
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding all phases of incident response
