Job Description

Looking for an opportunity to become a future sales leader in one of the world’s largest food companies? General Mills is looking for the leaders of tomorrow to join our Sales Development Program. With the pursuit of putting people first and building a culture of creating, we want to partner with you on your journey every step of the way.

General Mills Canada is one of the largest Consumer Packaged Goods companies in Canada. We are the leaders in 13 categories with strong brands like Cheerios, Nature Valley, Old El Paso, Liberté, Pillsbury and Yoplait. We serve the world by making food the world loves and treating the world with care. While we are part of a much larger global organization, we have the autonomy to manage our business and iconic brands in ways that support the needs of Canadian consumers.

We seek out the best minds and provide them with development and the opportunity to lead something big. The SDA role not only provides a platform for ownership from the get-go, but also serves as a steppingstone to advance your sales career with various roles (i.e. Account Management, Category Management, and Market Development & Strategy). Dedicated to the philosophy of promotion from within, the SDA role provides a foundation to explore future leadership opportunities. Not only do we encourage growth within sales, exploring cross-functional opportunities beyond Sales is also viable.

We employ an outstanding team of “intrapreneurs” who are valued and empowered to indulge in experimentation and innovative thinking to succeed. As an SDA, 50% of your week will be dedicated to managing a territory with medium to large format stores. Embracing an entrepreneurial spirit, this part of the role allows you to build and maintain relationships with key contacts, strategically sell using customer & category insights and flawlessly execute promotions to help grow the General Mills business. The other 50% of your time is based out of the head office where SDAs gain experience and expertise in selling & negotiating, analyzing customer data, leading Retail Execution, and projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams to impact in-store conditions.

We offer you a company vehicle, benefits, training, and a flexible work/life balance that few companies can match, because we believe that our employees are one of our most important assets. Starting with your very first day on the job, you’ll be creating a fulfilling career path with learning and personal growth. At General Mills, we’re not just building a business, we’re creating a legacy. If you’re ready to take on your next challenge, join talented people of General Mills Canada and begin creating your legacy today.

General Mills provides outstanding hands-on learning in all facets of our business and extraordinary personal and professional development and training opportunities. General Mills is committed to developing future leaders and preparing you for responsibilities beyond your initial role by offering a wide variety of development and training opportunities.
