OVERVIEW
Join the Medallion leadership team in the role of Innovation, Technology, & Quality Technical Manager - Medallion. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact multiple functions across GMI by leveraging your knowledge, skills, and expertise to advance internal testing innovation and external business solutions. You will provide strategic technical leadership for Medallion and oversee a highly skilled team of scientists and technicians to advance a wide variety of initiatives. The technical capabilities on this team span across analytical chemistry, structure function, physical testing and microbiology. you will also be accountable for identifying needs for emerging capabilities as required to support evolving business needs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and advance the Medallion Long Range Technical plans and strategies through partnership with the broader ITQ team, key cross-functional partners, Medallion Pillar Leaders and external partners.
- Effectively coordinate our resources & talent across multiple technical areas to develop testing innovation for our products by optimizing the scientific team along with new WoW in the REDI/Experimental Lab.
- Create a method development process to ensure Medallion can support future needs for alternative ingredient testing and/or new acquisitions.
- Build connected partnerships externally to bring industry insights into ITQ.
- Lead ITQ / GMI as the technical testing expert in our competitive advantaged capabilities.
- Lead a team of 14 direct/indirect reports. Provide leadership focus to align current talent with the work that will drive solutions, advance capabilities, and foster new ways of working.
- Develop the scientific team into influencers championing future solutions for GMI products/packaging based on their scientific functional depth.
- Build a culture of belonging, agile learning, and a celebration of knowledge from mistakes or success.
- Improve our internal tracking and broad communication process for technical solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or related field
- 10+ years’ leading in food or pharma analytical laboratory environments
- Deep understanding of analytical methods and standards
- Demonstrated experience in professional organizations associated with laboratory industry standards
- Ability to connect technical data to business implications and translate scientific thinking into action plan for improvement
- Proven experience leading scientific experts across several different technical pillars
- Established external relationships and a credible reputation in industry and/or academia with publications, board experiences, or committee participation
- Demonstrated ability to foster team effectiveness and interpersonal competency
- Ability to influence the business and cross-functional teams with a strategic scientific vision
- Demonstrated experience working with broad talent with multiple functional priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, or related field
- Thorough knowledge of LIMS / Labware Systems
- Experience with capital replacement projects
- New method development and change management strength
- Knowledge and/or Experience with ISO standards
- Experience in customer service and external vendor communication
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative with the ability to work collaboratively to drive results
- Strong communication skills and global mindset
- Desire to challenge assumptions and identify new opportunities, agility & ability to pivot quickly
- Commitment to fostering a Culture of Learning and Experimentation within the organization

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $120500.00 - $180900.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifictions, etc. As such, pay for the succesful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
