CompanyFederal Reserve Bank of St. LouisThe Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis is looking for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer, and leader of the Bank's Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI). The DEI Officer will lead the creation and development of programs and processes designed to build a more diverse and inclusive culture and will track outcomes. They will prioritize DEI principles and use best practices to evolve and strengthen an inclusive organization. The DEI Officer will partner with the Bank’s senior management to lead community engagement initiatives designed to support all communities, including those from historically underrepresented groups. This officer will drive desired outcomes by collaborating and influencing across all Bank business lines, and with Federal Reserve System colleagues and civic and community leaders.
The ideal candidate would be fluent in all competency areas of DEI including understanding implicit bias, microaggression development and understanding, cultural competency, and organizational learning and development. The DEI Officer should be passionate about learning about the Fed’s mission, strategy, and workforce needs, energized by engaging with individuals at all levels of the organization, and willing to bring their unique contribution to support the Bank’s DEI mission and vision.
The DEI Officer will lead a team of three employees and will work closely and collaboratively with the People & Culture, External Engagement and Corporate Communications, and Financial Management teams as well as with employees in leadership roles in employee resource groups.
The DEI Officer will report to the Bank's Chief Administrative Officer. This role is located in Saint Louis, MO (HYBRID).
In this role, the successful candidate make an impact in the following ways:
Partner with the Management Committee, the Bank’s leadership team, and employees to further develop the vision, direction, and execution of the Bank’s overall DEI strategy, including training, education, engagement, program development, and implementation.
Advance the Bank’s strategic roadmap and key performance indicators to align with its diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives within its business outcomes.
Further develop and continue to execute a plan for addressing the recommendations from the Bank’s Racial Equity Assessment.
Be the leader of the St. Louis Fed’s Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI) and partner with functions such as People & Culture, Economic Education, and Procurement to ensure that employment, financial literacy, and supplier and outreach opportunities are available to diverse populations and that the St. Louis Fed’s staff and vendors reflect the environment in which the Bank does business, all in accordance with applicable provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act.
Collaborate with executives and leaders to inform their roles as champions and advocates for inclusion and belonging.
Identify strategies to assess the effectiveness of the Bank’s efforts and programs in achieving its DEI mission.
Encourage and moderate open and practical conversations to lead departments, teams, and individuals to a greater understanding of DEI in the workplace. Represent the Eighth District on appropriate Bank and Federal Reserve System committees, represent the Bank on multiple community and civic committees and at external functions that contribute to the Bank’s and Federal Reserve System’s overall performance and reputation.
Oversee DEI compliance and reporting, including reporting to Congress, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Board of Governors.
Facilitate and share best practices for enhancing inclusivity, open exchange, and cultural competency; benchmark the Bank’s DEI efforts and progress with best-in-class organizations.
Enhance partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), other higher learning institutions, and networks that focus specifically on DEI.
Lead Bank-wide Employee Resource Groups (ERG) programming and provide mentoring for ERG leaders.
Manage relationships with relevant DEI partnerships, organizations, suppliers, and vendors.
Identify and build partnerships with Bank divisions, Federal Reserve System colleagues, outside DEI speakers, experts, and other resources to further guide and promote the DEI strategy.
Keep current on DEI developments, opportunities, and trends.
Work with outside organizations to research and implement custom DEI programs.
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for the following:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
7+ years of experience including leadership experience designing, implementing, and sustaining key initiatives in a complex organization.
Experience partnering with leaders to create a winning DEI strategy and help achieve organizational objectives and leading strategies, initiatives, and programs.
Experience directly advising and influencing senior leadership on DEI topics and strategies.
Experience engaging and collaborating as a team player with individuals across multiple disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds to achieve shared goals.
Strong analytical skills, with an ability to turn data into insights and a compelling narrative.
Experience and confidence in facilitating, presenting, communicating, influencing all levels of employees, and leadership.
Engagement and awareness of global, national, and regional trends around inclusion and diversity.
