The Data Insights + Analytics Group are data storytellers who meaningfully inform the decision-makers that drive the financial health of our nation's economy. We champion data quality through innovative solutions, timely reporting, tech automation, and collaborative support of the Twelfth District and our System partners. As an intern, you will draw upon your knowledge of finance, accounting, economics, and data analytics to collaborate with a dynamic team whose primary focus is to ensure that data collected are fit for its intended use by the Board of Governors and other stakeholders.



POSITION/PROJECT OVERVIEW

This internship role will primarily work on a data analysis project to enhance our quality assurance activities. The project involves interacting with financial, structure, and/or reserves data using a variety of tools, emerging technologies, or new methodologies. The focus is to identify inconsistencies, trends, and/or anomalies that provide improved data quality and value-added contextual information. There will also be opportunities to participate in data analytics projects that support the Group, the District, and the Statistics and Reserves business lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Once you are here, you’ll help process, analyze, and report on data to ensure quality, timeliness, and conformity with accounting principles and regulatory requirements by:

  • Using internal Federal Reserve tools to collect data for certain financial, monetary, structure, and bank credit reports

  • Responding clearly and knowledgeably to external and internal requests for information, including providing reporting guidance to institutions and explanatory information regarding unusual data findings to stakeholders

  • Using Excel, R, and/or Python to automate certain processes

REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Residency

  • Currently a junior or senior enrolled in a 4-year bachelor’s degree program

  • Ability to work 40 hours week throughout the duration of the approximately 10 - week internship program.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Pursuing a degree in economics, finance, accounting, statistics, data science, or related field

  • Experience with analyzing data sets

  • Familiarity with financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, etc.)

  • Ability to work collaboratively, think critically, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively

  • Proficient use of Excel (graphs, pivot tables, etc.)

  • Knowledge of R, Python, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus

Hourly Range: Min: $22.00 - Mid: $24.00 - Max: $28.00 (Location: San Francisco)

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
