What we do:
Install, alter, maintain, and repair a wide variety of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and systems at the Bank's owned and leased facilities in NY and NJ including computer room A/C units, air handlers, fans, pumps, chillers, kitchen equipment, and aspects of the fire detection/suppression systems. Provide first response on all types of issues off hours.
Your role as Lead HVAC Engineer:
Acts as an established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general supervision. Faces problems that are difficult, but typically not complex. Influences others within their job area through explanation of facts, policies and practice. Transactional (100%) – carries out defined steps.
Achieves operational targets within their job area that have a direct impact on department results. Works somewhat independently on larger, moderately complex projects/ assignments. Sets objectives for their own job area to meet the objectives or goals of projects and assignments. Performs work under general supervision with some autonomy and discretion, referring questionable situations to supervisor.
Communicates with contacts (typically within their department) to obtain or provide information that requires some explanation or interpretation in order to reach an agreement. Influences parties within their own job function at an operational level.
Requires practical knowledge of their job area. Clear fundamental understanding of specialized discipline.
Provides resolution to an assortment of problems that are typically well defined, but some clarification or judgment is required to determine action, as additional information about the problem/task is discovered. Uses judgment within defined practices/procedures to determine appropriate action.
What we are looking for:
Maintains daily logs of equipment and system operation; prepares any requested reports of work performed.
Performs work in operating, inspecting, testing, and maintaining air handling units of various sizes (D/X, chilled/hot water, steam); ventilation systems (exhaust fans, kitchen hoods, supply, and return fans); fire suppression systems; kitchen equipment; computer room air conditioning systems; HVAC chemical treatment, domestic hot water service; first response when required for electrical systems such as panels, UPS, etc.; refrigeration work (troubleshooting, controls, component changeout, etc.); mechanical work such as pump and fan overhauls; and steam equipment (PRV’s, valves, traps, condensate pumps).
Conducts routine operation activities (e.g. HVAC, electrical, life/safety operation) in the Bank's owned facilities and monitors the Bank's systems within its leased space.
Directs personnel in emergency procedures until the Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, or senior Chief Engineer arrive.
Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all administrative tasks involving the work order process in a "paperless" environment.
Promotes tool safety by inspecting tools with each use and reporting problems promptly. Orders parts, tools, equipment, and other supplies related to trade. Inventories supplies and tools as needed.
Mentors new hires or less experienced trade employees.
Operates computer terminals/software to check the operation of equipment and machinery including the Bank's building management systems for owned and leased facilities.
Makes adjustments to setpoints and schedules; analyzes displayed information to troubleshoot problems.
Takes an active interest in the condition of the facility and notes deficiencies (appearance, operating, safety) to supervision.
Offers suggestions for improvements.
Troubleshoots problems in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and electrical systems; recommends solutions to the Chief Engineer.
Qualifications
Trade School
Strong experience in HVAC repair/maintenance.
Position is contingent of EPA refrigeration certification Will have to or be able to acquire within one year various NYC certificates including but not limited to Certificate of Fitness Fire Watch (F-60, Torch Usage (G-60)]
Salary Range: $86300 - $99000 / year
