Arctic Wolf, with its unicorn valuation, is the leader in security operations in an exciting and fast-growing industry—cybersecurity. We have won countless awards for our excellence in security operations and remain dedicated to providing an industry-leading customer and employee experience.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Distinguished Data Architect to be part of making that happen.

About the Role

As a Distinguished Data Architect, you will begin with a focus on leading the overall data architecture at Arctic Wolf, developing our data warehouse and data lake architecture strategies, and engaging with stakeholders and product teams to elevate our entire data platform. You’ll be responsible for providing architectural leadership for the data architecture and data platform for Arctic Wolf’s data pipeline and services as part of the Architecture team. You may subsequently move to other areas of focus.

You’ll work across a diverse set of technologies and skills. Some of the technologies we use include microservices, Docker containers, Kubernetes, Kafka, SQS, real-time stream processing, data pipelines, relational and noSQL databases, data modelling, API design, schema design, system integration between services, endpoint software design, system internals, security scanning methodologies, 3rd party systems and interfaces, multi-tenancy, access controls, and more depending on your architecture area and projects.

Responsibilities Include

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and senior leadership to develop and maintain our data architecture strategy, aligning with organizational objectives.

  • Design and maintain our data strategy and data technologies for our data warehouses, marts, lakes, and complex data challenges to support our analytics, machine learning, reporting, and customer facing needs.

  • Champion the philosophical and aspirational architectural vision for our data architecture strategy and data platform.

  • Work with data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to ensure that the data architecture meets their requirements and supports their analytical and reporting needs.

  • Design and develop end to end robust, performant, and scalable data ingestion pipelines and data platform architecture.

  • Define and uphold the highest standards for data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.

About You

You are an expert Architect, Software Developer, or technical leader who oversees multiple architecture domains across an organization. You have proven technical leadership experience and learnings from previous projects, regardless of title held. You have been central in introducing novel and innovative solutions, have experience writing software, and have deep knowledge across multiple domains. You enjoy learning new concepts, technology research and experimentation. You are a mentor to technical leaders across multiple domains, and coach to architects and developers. You are comfortable communicating technical ideas to audiences of different skill levels, including to executive leadership. You create formal networks with key decision makers and are widely recognized as an expert and thought leader.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in architecting end-to-end data solutions in enterprise-scale data warehousing, data lakes, ODS, data architecture, and/or data engineering in cloud environments such as AWS.

  • Strong expertise of database and data technologies (AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, DynamoDB, AWS SQS, Kafka, S3, Spark, Elastic Search, ClickHouse, Databricks, Snowflake etc.) and visualization tools.

  • Expertise in advanced data modeling techniques and hands-on experience with diverse database management systems, Big Data, ETL and data engineering best practices.

  • Experience of designing, building, and instrumenting pipelines (real-time/near real-time event streams, batch, and ETL) that deliver data with measurable quality under the SLA.

  • In-depth knowledge of Data Management, including global data governance frameworks and compliance standards, data lifecycle management, data privacy, security and access controls on governed datasets, master data management, data integration, metadata, versioning, and data quality.

  • Experience designing for scalability and resilience, high-volume, high-throughput, and cost-optimization of large-scale data products handling massive amounts of data.

  • Experience with business intelligence, analytics, machine learning, data pipeline operations, database migration, backup and replication.
