This quality engineering position will be responsible for supporting the gliding window manufacturing line at the Locust Grove, Georgia plant, which is currently in design/development. This role will support the qualification of the manufacturing equipment for the product line to gain product and process knowledge that will be used to support the manufacturing line once it is launched in the summer of 2025. Areas of focus for this role include quality improvement, customer satisfaction, project support, and ensuring product conformance to specification and performance standards.
- Ensure that products produced on the assigned manufacturing line(s) are compliant with quality requirements defined by the company and own quality metrics for the manufacturing line
- Lead cross-functional team meetings, kaizen events, and value stream mapping sessions related to assigned manufacturing line(s)
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and standards and convert into manufacturing control plans and work instructions
- Develop process validation plans, execute the plans, and gather and analyze data through statistical techniques and software such as Excel and Minitab to detect trends and abnormalities
- Make critical decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving
- Conceive and persuasively sell continuous improvement ideas that reduce overall costs and deploy them across the supply chain
- Collaborate with team members in operations, supply chain, quality, logistics, engineering, and other departments to drive quality standards
- BS degree in Engineering or Technology
- ≥ 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing, continuous process environment
- Working knowledge of measurement tools and systems
- Applied experience reading blueprints / 2D drawings and design documentation
- Knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, process capability and lean manufacturing principles such as error proofing and visual management
- Experience with PDCA, A3, DOE, 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram, Lean Sigma, DMAIC
- Understanding of document control, product and process qualification, and audit processes
